Band: Knut
Title: Untitled
Label: Hydra Head Records
Review: Knut is by far one of most overlooked bands on the Hydrahead roster. I would venture to say they are among the best that label has ever been privileged to release, and this new EP only testifies to that fact. If you're unaware, Knut hails from Switzerland and plays some of the most intense doom-influenced metal around. These jams are slow and they are thick. Not since the mid-90s has a band been able to innovate on the one chord metal style like Knut, who can take a seemingly boring idea and turn it into one of the best songs you'll hear. The intensity here is incredible. Knut set themselves apart (by leaps and bounds) from the current state of metalcore with sincerity and power I have not heard from very many others. To even put this band next to some of hardcore's biggest names would be deprecating to these guys.
