Knut Challenger
It comes as no surprise that Switzerland's Knut have spent time touring with acts like Voivod, Botch, Neurosis, Keelhaul, and Isis beacuse Challenger, their second full length, has elements of all these bands with their own dose of style. Challenger is a brutal disc and Didier screams with reckless abandon but musically Knut are amazing. Jeremy's bass playing is heavy, rhythmic, and mixed up front. The guitar work of Philippe is nearly as challenging as Voivod's, albeit a bit heavier. His playing is raw and brutal but Philippe plays with a keen sense of dynamics and a flair for some experimental excursions. Despite the abrasiveness this guitar and bass combo always keep the listener on edge - captivating with the uniqueness and enthralled by the exciting riffs which balance Challenger between immediate gratification and experimentalism. Highly recommended for fans of the previous mentioned bands.
