Knut "challenger" cd

9 songs @ 51:39. Sweet baby Jesus Lord almighty Knut are back and ready to kick the shit out of their first full length! It seems that people haven't been paying that much attention to Hydrahead lately, now that current tastes have moved away from the genre-busting to the bullshit Poison The Well/From Autumn To Ashes stuff, but heads would be wise to check out Hydrahead's recent output. Start with "Challenger." This may well be the heaviest release of the year. Intricate without getting bogged down in guitar-school scales, Knut lays down some heavy groove and some seriously twisted time signatures. Their first full length didn't do too much for me, although I was impressed by the deceptive technicality of it all - this one shreds all over the place. Layout is beautifully minimalistic like all recent Aaron Turner stuff, although they didn't include the full layout which is a major bummer. With Systral and Morser's last albums being sub par, the Euro crown of heaviness moves from Germany over to Swizerland with the release of "challenger."
