"Bastardiser"
CD

WORMGEAR
KNUT - Bastardiser
HYDRA HEAD RECORDS

As I was repeatedly beating my head up against the wall trying to figure out who Knut reminds me of, I really started to like this CD. It didn't strike me as anything when first listened to, but after a couple of weeks, it slipped back into the player, and by god, folks, we have a winner. From the good people at Hydrahead comes this band that sounds kinda like......shit, almost had it. Well, I guess it really doesn't matter, cause if something's good, it's good, right? And because of this temporary block, you'll just have to take my word that "Bastardiser" is worth your money. Well, if your record collection consists of best of's from Barry Manilow and The Carpenters you probably won't want to run out and get Knut's new CD. But if you like your metalcore lean and mean without the typical trappings like gang yells and mosh parts, you've found your salvation. Dissonant chords and complex rhythms abound on "Bastardiser", and my only bitch is, like just about every other band in this genre, by the end of the CD, I'm ready for something else. But all, in all, an extremely good effort from this Beantown band. This is going in my "angry music for lifting weights" category, and if you have a similar category, you'll want to check out Knut.
