Knut "Bastardiser"
HydraHead Recordings
For I'd say, probably a little over a year now, HydraHead has hyped this band only known as "Knut". They are from Europe, which is known for it's exceptionally good bands. Well, apparently this Knut had a few releases out over there, but few people in the US were hip to their sound. So HydraHead decided to re-release all their stuff, and their new stuff from here on. Good move, because Knut rocks. This recording is pretty old, and apparently their new stuff sounds a lot nuttied, but in retrospect this CD doesn't really make me think of HydraHead style hardcore. It sounds a lot like Anthem Boy from Indiana if you've ever heard that. It's very heavy, but it's very hardcore. There are some brutal breakdowns and the vocals are pretty rough. In the end it's really, really good, but not what you'd expect from HydraHead. But then again, those guys seem to surprise you with everything they do. I'm very excited to see Knut explode on this side of the pond, and I'm looking forward to their latest material!
