"Bastardiser"
CD

AVERSIONLINE
Knut "Bastardiser" CD
7/10 - [ Hydrahead ]

I don't have the full packaging for this release yet, so I'll save that raving for a later review. In the meantime, Knut kicks some heavy, rhythmic, and dense rock with tons of off kilter changes and subtle odd timings. Huge production on this one, everything sounds awesome, especially when the distorted bass is left to stand alone. Hell yes. The vocals are aggressive shouts that have an original delivery to the, not at all a standard voice. Generally the songs are midpaced, though a whirlwind of speed is unleashed on tracks like "The Whip". Very little melody is present, though certain instances such as "Merge" are all the more intense because of it. A bit of dissonance appears, but nothing strips away at the rock-solid core. The final track is 10 minutes of plodding repetitious annihilation. Nice. I'm waiting for the full release to drop real soon.
